We are currently searching for an experienced and dynamic candidate for front line Processing & Production Supervisor for our North Carolina campus.

If the answer is yes, you will be happy to hear that RC Creations, LLC, a division of Acme Smoked Fish is seeking a Processing / Production Supervisor to join our cold smoked seafood processing team in Wilmington, North Carolina. We are looking for individuals with management experience to join our team in driving a culture of continuous improvement and lean manufacturing to help us meet and exceed our business objectives.

Position Summary:

Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, the Processing/Production Supervisor will be responsible for leading a team of Production Associates in processing/packaging departments to meet company, department and line goals as well as standards for safety, quality, yield, efficiency and cost. The supervisor will be directly involved with hiring decisions and the development and training of all associates, while maintaining a high level of employee morale and dedication to serving our customers.

The Processing/Production Supervisor's primary responsibilities include:

  • Meeting production demand for the unit by addressing bottlenecks, balancing manpower and developing countermeasures on quality and equipment issues.
  • Organizing personnel, materials and other necessary resources to comply with production scheduled for the lines or areas he/she has been assigned to.
  • Process monitoring, to ensure work flow on the assigned production lines/areas in a continuous manner, anticipating events that may preclude that continuous flow, and taking action to prevent any anticipated disruption. Identify issues in efficiency and suggests improvements.
  • Supervising employees in the Production Department. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the production unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Ensuring that product and associates are in the process at all times. Plan and organize work for smooth operations.
  • Managing employees including: Interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Collaborating with other supervisors in order to ensure effectiveness and efficiency of the complete operation.
  • Supervising the information inputs & records required for the appropriate process and product monitoring and evaluation. Submits reports on performance and progress.
  • Inspecting products to verify conformance to specifications and directs setup and adjustments of processes or equipment.
  • Ensuring that standard operating procedures are current, accurate and that all work is done in compliance to ensure maximum quality.
  • Interpreting company policies to workers and enforce safety and quality regulations.
  • Interpreting specifications to associates and assign duties.
  • Recommending measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Analyzing and resolving work problems, or assisting associates in solving work problems.
  • Initiating or suggesting plans to motivate associates to achieve work goals.


  • At least three (3) years of experience in a management position, preferably in the food processing industry
  • Take responsibility with an "ownership mentality"
  • Previous experience with employee development and performance review programs
  • Ability to work in temperatures in upper 30's range
  • Ability to work across the organization, communicating well with all levels and functions
  • Ability and willingness to work unusual/flexible schedule, including Sundays and early morning as needed
  • Ability to prioritize / adjust quickly to a rapidly changing work environment with minimal supervision to meet internal and external customer needs
  • Previous experience working within an FDA regulated facility preferred
  • Past experience within an SQF or BRC certified manufacturing environment preferred
  • Experience driving change through identifying and implementing lean manufacturing initiatives preferred
  • B.A. / B.S. Food Science, Business or related field and/or equivalent work experience
