Job Description: Quality Assurance Manager

The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for supporting the Acme Smoked Fish Corp. view of food safety and quality through the integration of Quality Management Programs across the manufacturing of its products and finished goods. This role directs the Quality Assurance Department of Acme Smoked Fish Corporation's facility based in Brooklyn, New York. This position reports to the Corporate Senior Quality Assurance Manager.

Location: Brooklyn, NY (Headquarters)


  • Manages objectives of all quality control and regulatory functions in accordance with organization's objectives.
  • Ensures regulatory standards (FDA, State Health Departments, USDC), customer - third party food safety and quality auditing standards, and GFSI (BRC) are maintained.
  • Ensures that all Acme products and supporting documentation are in full compliance with regulatory and third-party standards.
  • Maintains a continuous improvement plan to ensure that products and processes meet and exceed company and regulatory standards.
  • Manages and maintains HACCP, SSOP, SOP, and GMP programs according to relevant up-to-date scientific research/information and according to current regulatory/third party standards.
  • Manages vendor compliance programs to assure that products and vendors are qualified to meet Acme's and regulatory standards.
  • Provides support and guidance to the Customer Service Department for consumer and customer food safety and quality related issues. Executes action plans to address product related consumer complaints and deficiencies.
  • Work in collaboration with Food Safety and R&D Manager to develop strategies to meet company's goals and objectives.
  • Provide trend reports and analysis against company goals and KPIs.
  • Additional responsibilities as necessary.

 Required Skills:

  • BS. in Food Science, Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, or related field.
  • Experience working within an FDA or USDA regulated facility.
  • Experience in food manufacturing in the Technical and Quality function. 2+ years of experience preferred.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously. Must pay meticulous attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in diverse groups and ability to influence others.
  • Ability to spend up to 80% of time on plant environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Spanish a plus.
  • Must have excellent computer skills including: MS Word, Excel, Publisher, & PowerPoint.

 Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge or certification of USFDA's Seafood HACCP Guidelines a plus.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance and food safety standards, including third party standards such as GFSI (BRC and SQF).
